This is Erika Bower, Superintendent of Ridgedale Local Schools, where our mission is to empower students to reach their full potential while focusing on learning, safety, partnerships with our community, and fiscal responsibility.
August has arrived, and school is just around the corner! I wanted to take a moment to update you on some important events that are coming up!
Mandatory practices have started for athletics! We are looking forward to fantastic fall sports seasons! Tomorrow, August 3 from 12-5pm head over to Founders’ Park in Marion for a Back to School Event with free haircuts, manicures, shoe vouchers, bookbags, food, inflatables, fire trucks, and more! This is sponsored by Emanuel Lutheran Church, Central Barbershop, and PlatinumPlus Barbershop. On August 6, sports teams will have picture day for grades 7-12, there is a mandatory OHSAA parent meeting at 6pm, and athletic passes will be available. On August 9, join us for Meet the Team along with family fun activities, including games and food trucks. This starts at 4pm. The regular Board of Education meeting will be on August 12 at 5:30pm. Drug Testing will take place on August 13 from 9-10am. Orientation for 6th graders is on August 14 from 6-7:30pm. Open House all grades will take place on August 19 from 4-6pm. The first day of school for students will be August 20. Remember that kindergarteners have a staggered start, and preschool starts on Monday, August 26.
